Surge Planning
Overview
This group is for those who have an interest in the management of increased activity, and improving the resilience of organisations.
Recently the effectiveness and resilience of emergency care provision was tested across the country. Although the system in the Northeast generally performed well risks have been compounded during times of peak activity.
All organisations endeavour to ensure that the public’s health and social needs are met at times of low and high activity, ensuring capacity and responses of services is appropriate. This requires a level of resilience within the whole health economy that can only be achieved by strengthening interagency working and co-operation.
Therefore this group has been developed to provide a focus for information, discussion, and sharing of innovative and effective approaches for system resilience and surge management
