This group has been established to provide a forum for networking and sharing resources amongst the North East School Travel Advisors and wider stakeholders.

School Travel Advisors primary role since 2003 has been the promotion and co-ordination of the delivery of School Travel Plans working towards a target of 100% of schools with an approved School Travel Plan by March 2010. A School Travel Plan (STP) is a package of measures designed to address travel and transport issues and problems mainly associated with the school run. It is developed through consultation with the whole school community including pupils, parents, staff and governors. The overall aim is to develop a strategic approach to school travel issues promoting the use of walking, cycling and public transport and reducing car dependency for journeys to school.
