How to use PHINE
Using Resources
What is it
The resources function allows groups to store files, presentations and links in folders called collections. Members of the group can access these files and comment on them.
How it works
Click on the Resources. If there are no resources loaded you will see a link which reads Create a New Collection. Click on this and a form appears:
- Title is the name for this collection, for example Website links or Agendas.
- Text allows you to describe what content will appear in the collection.
- Parent allows you to make a collection within a collection, like a subfolder. The pull down lists the colections you have created. Save will save the content while delete will delete it.
Adding a resource to a collection.
Open the collection
in which you wish to add your resource. Do this by clicking on that collection name which will expand the collection to reveal the content.
You will see two button in the right of the collection, edit and add resource. Edit will return you to the collection edit form. Selecting add resource reveals a further menu of options.
Add a new file
Add new file opens the file loading tool. select browse and locate the file you wish to load form your computer. Select upload to load the file.
When the file has uploaded you have the option off adding a description to the file. Press save.
An option appears below to load further files.
Using the menu at the top of the file load window select advanced. This tab allows you to share the resource you have loaded into other collections in the group you're working in or other groups that you're a member of.
The topics panel allows you to associate your resource with the listed topics. This is optional, do not select topics if your resource is confidential.
Add a new link
Selecting this option allows you to load links to websites or links to resources on other websites.
Link URL is where you post the link.
Title is for the title of the link.
Description allows you to describe the link.
As with files you can share the link to other collections using the advanced tag.
Remember to hit save!
Update to the Resources Function
Following feedback from users, we have developed a function to download all the resources in a collection at once - this should be useful to those who download meeting papers from your groups.
To download the resources into a ZIP file click the Download as zip file
button in the collection you want to download the files from.
You don't have to do anything different in terms of uploading documents but if you have any questions post them here.
