The next PHINE network meeting will be held at St Hild and St Bede, Joachim Room, Durham on Monday 5th October. Tea, Coffee will be available 9.00 - 9.15 with a lunch provided at 12pm.

The structure of the meeting will differ from previous meetings by adopting the 'network cafe' format. This offers an opportunity to present the work you are doing to regional colleagues in fifteen minute slots. Attendees will be able to visit three different presentations throughout the meeting.

Presentations will be available from the following:

National Library for Public Health

Find out what the National Library of Public Health does and how it can support your work in using evidence to inform public health interventions and commissioning.

SHAPE

SHAPE is a web enabled, evidence based application which is designed to inform and support the strategic planning of services and physical assets across a whole health economy. It is free to all NHS professionals and the SHAPE team will be hosting a table at this event to provide you with more information regarding this tool, how it can benefit you and full details on how to obtain it.

Meet the team at the PHINE network event and share your ideas on how it might be developed.

HES / Commissioning

What does the Commissioning Support Unit at NEPHO do?

We have a number of remits which include commissioning and provision of the regional Hospital Episode Statistics (HES) service. Currently our commissioning work centres on the World Class Commissioning (WCC) agenda. Projects include: a series of seminars designed to give a strategic overview of aspects of WCC; Production of a web based tool putting the regional PCTs’ top 10 priorities into context; and a new workstream in predictive modelling.
We are also a ‘safe haven’ for HES data. This means we are able to provide tables of HES data for public health analysts throughout the region to work on. We also produce Occasional Papers relating to specific aspects of HES such at total Hip replacements and total Knee replacements.
The open space session is an opportunity for us to discuss our ongoing products with you and consider future work. [N.B. The commissioning Support Unit also includes the Shape team who are running a further session]

Population Data

Please come and call at the PHINE Population table to discuss the PHINE Population Toolkit!

Review the population toolkit and help to decide on how best to make population data available on PHINE. Gillian Bryant will be bringing along some examples of other population reports for some inspiration. We look forward to hearing your views and ideas.

Dashboard

NEPHO have been commissioned to develop an online Health Improvement Dashboard. This project visualises data for a small number of indicators for each of the Better Health Fairer Health working groups. This session provides an opportunity to learn about the project, use the prototype and provide feedback about the ongoing development.

If you have work you would like to share with the region, and would like a table at the network cafe, please contact michael.heasman@nepho.org.uk to arrange your place.

To sign up to the Network meeting please use the registration function to the right.
