Dying to be Warm: How to reduce excess winter mortality

Tuesday 23rd June 2009

This message is to inform you that the National Energy Association (NEA) are holding a series of one-morning stakeholder events of which one is being held in the North East on the 23rd June 2009. The aim of the morning is to provide an overview of the importance of the role of fuel poverty in reducing excess winter deaths, and to highlight practical actions that can be taken at local level to tackle this. Public Health North East fully support the NEA in this work which is why we are forwarding these details to you.

Representation at high level from key partners including PCTs, Local Authorities and the voluntary sector, in addition to leaders in this area working at regional level (for example the SHA, ANEC and NEPHO), will be key to making this a successful day with the outcome of saving many lives across our region this winter. Therefore your attendance will be very much appreciated.

Further details including an agenda for the day and venue will be forwarded in due course, but in the first instance please see the flyer for details of how to reserve a place on the North East day. In addition, further information can be obtained by NEA's local coordinator for this day, Claire Henderson (e-mail: claire.henderson@nea.org.uk, telephone:01912615677).
