The North East Teaching Public Health Network (NETPHN) is delighted to invite you to our Inaugural Conference “NETPHN: Helping Bridge the Health Inequalities Gap” taking place on Wednesday 30 January 2008 at the Sunderland Marriott Hotel. The purpose of the NETPHN is to bring together education providers with the public sector workforce (including public health professionals, commissioners, practitioners and workforce planners) to increase capacity in order to improve health in its wider sense. We aim to build a whole system approach to the development of public health education across organisations and sectors, at all skill levels and widen the reach of public health into non-traditional settings thereby helping to reduce health inequalities in a sustainable way.
The “NETPHN: Helping Bridge the Health Inequalities Gap” conference is a key event to put in your diary. It provides a unique forum for public health and education professionals to come together to look at innovative ways of reducing health inequalities. The conference will provide you with the opportunity to be inspired by discussion from local, regional and national speakers; network with colleagues and peers and, find out about examples of excellence in education and public health initiatives within the North East.
Attached is a draft programme for the day. The afternoon session provides you with the opportunity of working together in smaller groups at two workshops. Three workshops are being offered and you are asked to indicate your preferences on the attached booking form.
Places on the conference are limited so complete the attached booking form as soon as possible and return it to Jean Craister, NETPHN Administrator at the address shown on the form to arrive no later than Friday 18 January 2008.
There is no conference fee for those attending and confirmation of places will be sent on Monday 21 January, along with further details.
We look forward to welcoming you to the NETPHN conference. Kind regards
Dr Alyson Learmonth NETPHN Chair
