A Good Death

Dying Matters

Dying Matters is a broad based and inclusive national coalition of more than 15,000 members, which aims to change public knowledge, attitudes and behaviours towards death, dying and bereavement.

The coalition’s mission is “to support changing knowledge, attitudes and behaviours towards death, dying and bereavement, and through this to make ‘living and dying well’ the norm". This will involve a fundamental change in society in which dying, death and bereavement will be seen and accepted as the natural part of everybody’s life cycle.

Dying Matters has produced a useful set of resources for members looking to publicise their work to raise awareness and promote conversation about death, dying and bereavement, including

  • leaflets, providing support and advice to enable all of us to have open and honest conversations around dying, death and bereavement
  • posters prompting thought about planning for the end of life and making sure everything is prepared
  • a resource pack to help organise and plan events in the local community
  • the 'Dying to Know' book - a great prompt in getting the conversation started, and thinking about your priorities
